Northwestern Oklahoma State University Falls in Tournament Opener

The Ranger Softball team opened their four game tournament at the Midwestern State Roundup. Northwestern is set to play four games overall. The Aggies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in which they never lost the lead.

The loss drops the Rangers to 1-5 on the season.

Abby DeTar led the team with two hits Friday as Hannah Howell had the other hit for Northwestern.

Cameron jumped out fast in game one Friday evening after a delay from the game before going long. Cameron used a three run first inning to gain an early lead. Rangers had runners on first and second in the first but a flyout followed by a strikeout kept the score 0-0. In the bottom of the inning Bruce homered to left field to open the scoring and give Cameron an early 1-0 lead.

With runners on first and second Rowley hit a double to left center scoring a second run before a ground out pushed the deficit to 3-0.

Abby DeTar led off with a single for her first of two hits in the game before Rangers went down in order from there. Cameron added to their lead after a leadoff double two outs later they had an RBI double from Boren.

In the bottom half of the third inning Rangers worked out of a first and second situation to keep the deficit at four striking out the final batter of the inning.

Cameron added four more runs in the fourth inning as Rowley hit a three run home run making the game 7-0. After back to back singles Clark hit a double down third base line taking an 8-0 lead over the Rangers through four innings.

The Aggies held the Rangers scoreless through five to close out the victory over Northwestern for an 8-0 win in the opening game.
