Ouachita's LaQuan Butler and Alex Scariolo each reached double-digit scoring as the Tigers used solid shooting in the opening stanza to defeat Oklahoma Baptist on Friday at Bill Vining Arena. By game's end, the host Tigers dealt the Bison a 77-65 defeat.

Bison forward D.J. Freeman posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds along with a few of steals while Paul King tallied 15 points. Plus, Caleb Riggs scored a season-high 11.

In that first half, the Tigers shot above 54 percent from the field and from beyond the three-point line to go up 42-30 at the break.

At one point the hosts were hitting 61 percent from the field while OBU was at a 21-percent clip. That was just after the under-eight media timeout when Ouachita led 31-15.

Ouachita started the game with a 7-0 run before the Bison found some traction. An 8-5 stretch was capped off by King's jumper in the paint at 15:46 which brought the tally to 12-8.

After that small OBU spurt, though, Ouachita got in gear. They scored 15 of the next 17 to seize a 27-10 lead following a Reggie Martin bucket. That stretch was the key in the first half for the Tigers as they remained in front by double digits for the rest of the half. By the break, it was 42-30.

Second-half action saw an improved Bison defense and rally to cut within five points of Ouachita's lead. A little over four minutes in, a Trey Green steal and run-out brought the score to 50-42. A few minutes later, Joshua Udoumoh sank two freebies to make the score within eight again, 52-44.

On two more situations, the Bison got even closer. Ricky Brown brought things at 57-52 with a corner three before Freeman hit two freebies to bring the scoreboard to 59-54.

Those Freeman free throws were around the seven-minute mark. Unfortunately, the Tigers wouldn't allow the Bison to get any closer.

The Tigers wound up hitting a few more threes to pull away down the stretch. By the end of the 40 minutes, Ouachita had hit 11 deep shots.
