Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Three-Bomb Cameron at Noble

Six different Oklahoma Baptist players hit three-pointers in the first half as the Bison defeated Cameron 79-70 on Saturday inside the Noble Complex. OBU improved to 3-2 with the victory.

Malou Savanna led the team with a trio of three-balls in the first pair of quarters as the green and gold attained a 46-30 halftime lead. After the first 20 minutes of action, the hosts had connected on 60 percent of their attempts from deep (9-15).

Collectively, the Bison were very good. Jaedyn Getman and Erika Ankney each scored 18 to lead while Madison Chambers dialed up 12 points and a career-high eight assists. Additionally, Melissa Southard tallied nine points and four dimes.

As a team, the Bison hit 56.5 percent from the field, 57.1 from behind the three-point line and assisted on 20 of their 26 made field goals.

First-quarter action was virtually dead-even as the Lady Aggies had a one-point advantage, 20-19. In that period, the scoreboard went back and forth a few times before Cameron tallied the last four points on Kailyn Lay and Katie King jumpers.

A period later, OBU put on an absolute clinic to seize command. They hit an incredible 85.7 percent from three and 72.7 percent overall. Leading 29-26, the Bison went on a 17-4 run over the final 4:45.

Hannah Smith, Southard and Chambers started the run with three-straight threes. By the end, Ankney hit a free throw to secure a 16-point halftime lead. On the opposite sideline, Cameron made just 4-of-14 (28.6%).

After the break, the Lady Aggies did crack into OBU's double-digit lead a few times. However, there would be no comeback as the Bison would get some Kennedy Large free throws and long ball by Chambers to keep any kind of a Cameron run at bay.

On top of those shots, Ankney twice delivered OBU's biggest lead of 19 points, once in the third (51-32) and then again in the fourth (77-58) as the Bison coasted to victory.

Next on the schedule is conference play beginning Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Southwestern Oklahoma State (0-4).
