Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office Pursuit suspect arrested after manhunt

On November 16th Lieutenant Strand attempted to stop a vehicle at Leo and Highway 177. The driver of the vehicle decided to Elude.

Lieutenant Strand pursued the vehicle South on Leo from Independence. The driver of the vehicle almost struck another vehicle and forced a vehicle off the roadway.

The vehicle continued South past Benedict Street, where it came to the dead end of Leo near Farrall and blew a tire. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Samantha Heine, fled on foot.

Pottawatomie County Emergency Management responded with their drone and was able to locate Heine in the woods. Heine ran across Highway 177 and back into a wood line. The drone was able to lead Deputies and Officers to Heine and they took her into custody.

Heine was wanted on a Parole Violation and Felony warrants out of the State of Kansas. She was also charged with Eluding while endangering others, No Seatbelt, and Driving Under Suspension. She received a $7,500.00 bond for her new charges and will be extradited back to Kansas for her warrants there.

If you were driving along Leo during the pursuit and were one of the vehicles that the vehicle forced off the road or almost struck please call our Office at 405-273-1727 and ask for Lieutenant Strand.

We would like to thank Kickapoo Tribal Police, Absentee Shawnee Tribal Police, Citizen Potawatomi Nation Tribal Police, Shawnee OK Police Department, and Pottawatomie County Emergency Management for their assistance in getting this suspect in custody.

This is an arrest not a conviction, all parties are innocent until proven guilty.
