Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Out-Thunder The Storm

Thursday at the Noble Complex, Oklahoma Baptist (19-10, 13-3 GAC) faced off against the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (4-25, 1-15 GAC). This match served as their second meeting this season, with their first ending in a 3-0 Bison win in Durant.

With a home-court advantage and the excitement of Senior Night, the Bison flew by, 3-0

The Savage Storm bench was loud and proud in the first. But the Bison embodied the phrase "actions speak louder than words" with their gameplay. Senior Audrey Poupard stood out as a "kill"-ing force. With assistance from fellow senior Rylen Moore, Poupard secured three kills.

With this, she led the green and gold to a first-stanza win, 25-7. OBU connected on .364 of its attempts while SE hit a miserable -.045.

In the second, the Bison continued to thunder away on the Savage Storm. Senior Taneyah Brown shone bright on the court with four kills that flew through SE. With some additional kills by Poupard, Avery Hellmuth and Jenna West, the Bison secured an easy second set win of 25-9.

Just like the first, the attack percentages were massively skewed. The green and hold hit .324 while the visitors hit .000.

Though the Savage Storm sought to blow its way back into the match during the third, the Bison win was already well on its way. After Southeastern knotted the stanza 21-21, the Bison brought out their best and made sure their senior night wouldn't get rained on.

Junior D'Erricka Frierson served as a stand-out player with six kills in the third. Followed closely by Brown who notched five kills to boost her total to nine. Brown also secured a career-high 23 digs. Additionally, Poupard ended her night with nine kills as the Bison won the final stanza 25-22.
