Junior receiver Keilahn Harris broke the Oklahoma Baptist record for career receptions and receiving yards in Saturday's 52-20 loss to Southern Arkansas inside Crain Family Stadium.
Harris surpasses Josh Cornell ('18-'21), who held both records, after needing a catch and 37 yards coming into today. He finished with 76 yards on 10 receptions.
The Muleriders controlled both sides of the ball today, compiling 551 yards of offense while holding the Bison to 322 yards. SAU also forced two turnovers and won the time-of-possession margin by over 10 minutes. OBU charted most of its yards through the air, finishing with 198 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, the Bison rushed 27 times for a net of 124 yards at an average of 4.6 yards per carry.
Three minutes would fall off the clock before the game's first points appeared. Guillermo Garcia Rodriguez chipped in a 36-yarder to give the Bison a 3-0 lead in the inaugural quarter. It marks Garcia Rodriguez's sixth make this year.
On the next drive, the opposition matched OBU with a field goal to tie the contest at 3-3.
The Bison kicker's leg would ring true again on the ensuing possession, putting the home team up 6-3 with 4:41 to go in the first quarter. Then in the second quarter, SAU's OB Jones reached paydirt courtesy of a one-yard rush to cap a 12-play, 78-yard drive to put the Muleriders ahead 10-6.It wasn't long before Southern Arkansas found its way back into the endzone, scoring from 22 yards out at the 7:26 mark to take a 17-6 advantage into intermission.
Oklahoma Baptist found life near the end of the third quarter as Buddy Bizzell waltzed into the endzone on a 13-yard run. The action pushed the tally to 31-13, SAU.
Afterward, the Muleriders tacked on two more scores before Seth Streeter found Keilahn Harris in the back of the endzone for a touchdown.
Southern Arkansas would put a stamp on the victory moments later, scoring with a little over two minutes remaining.
Streeter finished with 198 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. He added a team-best 68 yards on the ground, averaging 5.2 yards per tote. Bizzell registered one touchdown after compiling 33 yards on six carries.
Receiver Braden Phipps caught four balls for 37 yards, while Nate Anderson tallied two catches for 17 yards.
Trajan Lands posted a career-best 15 tackles, including 14 unassisted, while linebacker Jake Landers finished with 12 stops. Landers added a sack for eight yards. Kaleb Peters and Elijah Tomlin rounded out the Bison with double-figure stops, finishing with 11 and 10, respectively. Tomlin also forced a fumble, and Peters registered a TFL.
Freshman Brett Karhu turned in a season-high 2.5 TFLs and a sack.
Oklahoma Baptist will hit the road for the last time next week, traveling to Arkadelphia for a 2 p.m. matchup against Henderson State (7-2, 7-2 GAC).
