For the second straight week and third time this season, Oklahoma Baptist libero Maci Langford was named the Great American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
With the award, Langford becomes the first Bison player to ever earn three GAC weekly defensive honors in a season. Previously, Audrey Poupard garnered two defensive honors in the spring of 2021 while Kaitlyn Lucy notched a pair during the 2015 season.
Last week, Langford helped the Bison to two victories over Henderson State and Ouachita.
In the match versus the Reddies, she broke OBU's and the GAC's previous single-match dig record in a three-setter with 37. The Arlington, Texas native then followed that up with a 27-dig total against the Tigers on Sept. 30.
For the week, she averaged an incredible 10.67 digs per set and moved into second place in the conference in digs per set (5.4).
Langford and OBU will return to action on Oct. 6 when it visits Southern Arkansas for a 6 p.m. GAC match.
