Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Stomp Southeastern, 3-0

Thursday night at Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium, the Oklahoma Baptist (7-8, 1-1 GAC) volleyball team faced off against the 1-11 Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm. By night's end, the Storm fell prey to OBU in a "kill"-er with a final score of 3-0.

To begin the match, the Bison and Storm matched each other's energy in the first half of the set. More than midway through, the score was knotted up at 17-all.

But the Bison's stand-out players, junior Jenna West and redshirt freshman Jill Leslie, accounted for eight kills, causing the greatest point gap to reach five. With Leslie and West's efforts, the Bison were able to fly past the Storm, hit .472 and secure a 25-20 win with the majority of OBU's kills coming along the outside.

Following their first-set win, the Bison came into the second with continued momentum and fire. OBU had as big a lead as 14 points and made its way into "the eye" of the Storm with a staggering 0.542 attack percentage difference. In the second, the green and gold hit .375 and held SE to -0.167.

The assisting efforts of classmates Rylee Martin and Abrey Galt contributed greatly to the Bison's offensive attack. Setting Leslie, West and junior Avery Hellmuth, Martin and Galt led their team to win the set by assisting nine kills in contribution to the 25-11 scoreboard.

The collaboration of Taneyah Brown and D'Erricka Frierson during the third stanza overruled the Storm's attempts to catch up. Though the Storm was able to secure more kills than they did in the second, the Bison made their greatest lead of the stanza seven points and maintained it until the end.

By the end of the set, the scoreboard read an unattested Bison win of 25-18. Plus, OBU had a 9-to-1 blocks advantage and 40-33 lead in kills.
