Oklahoma Baptist University Strong Opposition Heading OBU’s Way

Arguably the two toughest teams on Oklahoma Baptist's 2022 schedule make their way to Bison Hill this week. On Sept. 6, West Texas A&M will face the Bison before No. 3 (United Soccer Coaches) Dallas Baptist comes to Shawnee on Sept. 10. Both matches are scheduled for 6 p.m. starts.

Last week, the Bison won 2-0 at Texas Woman's before falling in a hard-fought contest against Central Oklahoma. Through four matches, OBU holds a 1-3 record.

Going into the previous matches versus TWU and UCO, the green and gold's offense was looking for a boost. And it got it. After totaling three shots on goal in the first two affairs, OBU came back last week to attempt 11. That improvement will have to continue against WT and DBU this week as each of those schools have tallied multiple goals in every match (3) this season.

Here's the leader board breakdown for the Bison:

Alanna Bloomingdale: Team-high two goals and four points

Katie Fowler: Has three points on a goal and assist

Duschka Diaz: Owns the Bison's other assist which she recorded against TWU

Mia Pendleton: Boasts a 1.25 GAA and .762 save percentage in goal

OBU's first match with West Texas A&M has the Lady Buffs perfect (3-0) this young season. They have won each match by 3-0 counts. In series history, this is the fifth all-time contest with both schools owning a pair of wins. Last season, WT won 3-0 in Canyon. Here are their leaders:

Maria-Frances Serrant: Scored a hat trick against Fort Lewis (9/2) and has five this season

Asha James: Has a trio of goals and an assist for seven points

Reagan Heelan: In three starts, has not allowed a goal and notched 15 saves

As for DBU, the nation's third-ranked team, it also has a potent offense having scored eight goals in three matches. They are averaging a little over seven shots on goal per game. Remarkably, of the team's eight goals, only one player has notched multiple: Annie Severide. Six other players have tallied a single goal.

In the assist department, Angelina Olmos has two helpers. Defending the net is Adrianna Schroeder. Through three matches, she has allowed four goals, collected 18 saves and posted a 1.33 goals against average and .818 save percentage.

The Patriots have won each of the previous three games over OBU, including a 5-0 triumph last season.
