OBU recently welcomed Alex Webster as assistant professor of theatre technology and design. Webster assumed her role Aug. 1 ahead of the fall 2022 semester.
Prior to joining the OBU faculty, she served at Texas Tech University since 2018, serving as both a graduate instructor and a graduate teaching assistant. She previously served as an undergraduate teaching assistant at Brevard College from 2014 to 2017. She also worked as artist in residence at the Charles Adams Studio Project since 2020, with a focus in theatre, painting, movement and music.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brevard College, graduating magna cum laude from the honors program. She later earned a Master of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University with an emphasis in theatre performance and pedagogy.
Dr. Matthew Emerson, dean of theology, arts and humanities, is excited for Webster to join the faculty and is grateful for the knowledge and expertise she brings.
“Ms. Webster is a talented actress and vocal coach, as well as an experienced technical director,” Emerson said. “She also has an eye for design and an ability to connect acting and stagecraft. She is uniquely equipped to lead the technical and design aspects of our theatre program.”
