Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office Investigation Leads to Child Pornography Arrest

132e

Last week, Lieutenant Marcus May received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning an unidentified suspect uploading child pornography to a social media website.

Upon receiving the tip, Lieutenant May opened an investigation. Over the course of his investigation, Lieutenant May was able to identify the unique IP Address used to upload the material. Over the course of the following week, Lieutenant May was able to identify the specific home address from where the child pornography was uploaded.

Search warrants were obtained, and Raymond Acosta of Shawnee was identified as the suspect.

Acosta was arrested by Lieutenant May on Monday evening and booked in the Safety Center on one count of possession of child pornography. His bond is set at $15,000.00.

Our ICAC Team (Internet crimes against children) works hard to keep the children of this county safe. This case is only one of many child pornography investigations the Sheriff’s Office ICAC Team has investigated in Pottawatomie County just this year. Our ICAC Investigators will continue to fight for the safety of current and potential child victims.

We partner with the OSBI and other agencies to protect our children in Pottawatomie County.

These are extremely hard cases to investigate, so we would like to thank Lieutenant Marcus May for his hard work and dedication to the children of Pottawatomie County.

This is an arrest, not a conviction, all parties are innocent until proven guilty.
