Five different goal scorers and a clean sheet powered the Oklahoma State soccer team to an 8-0 victory over in-state foe Rogers State University in its spring exhibition season debut Saturday afternoon at Neal Patterson Stadium.

The Cowgirls took charge early in this one, notching five first-half goals after a barrage of shots from the offense.

Hannah Chance nearly grabbed the lead in the fifth minute but had her attempt narrowly saved by the Hillcats’ goalkeeper. Chance was the first goal scorer of the day just 10 minutes later as she connected with Laudan Wilson’s through ball to put OSU up, 1-0.

Shortly after, Xcaret Pineda capitalized on a Hillcat foul in the box and fired home the penalty kick to extend the Cowgirls advantage to two.

OSU added two goals within three minutes of each other as Alex Morris and Logan Heausler each found the back of the net to bring OSU’s total to four goals. The Cowgirls notched another before the break as Heausler connected with Shyann McClary’s cross and headed it home to make the score 5-0.

The second half was more of the same as the Cowgirls added another goal just six minutes into the second half, this time from Gracie Bindbeutel. Heausler completed her hat trick with just over 20 minutes remaining as she capitalized on a scramble in the box and tapped in OSU’s seventh of the game.

Chance rounded out the scoring for the Cowgirls as she tabbed her second goal of the game with only one minute left in the match.

Goalkeepers Ary Purifoy and Peyton Pearson combined for the shutout.

The Cowgirls return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. when they host Central Oklahoma at Neal Patterson Stadium; admission is free.
