The accolades continued to roll in for Oklahoma Baptist’s Kade Self on Wednesday. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) voted OBU’s senior outfielder/designated hitter as its Central Region Player of the Week.

Self’s award, OBU’s second straight by the NCBWA, stemmed from a standout weekend against Southeastern Oklahoma State on March 10-11.

In three games, he batted .700 with seven hits, a double and two home runs. Self also drove in 11, totaled 14 bases and attained a slugging percentage of 1.400. The Shawnee native also had an OPS mark of 2.427.

During the series finale against SE, he lifted OBU in front, 9-6, with a fifth-inning grand slam. He was 3-for-4 in that game with two homers and seven RBI, two off the school’s single-game record.

Self and OBU will be back in action when they take on Arkansas-Monticello on March 17 at 3 p.m. at home.

Fans that attend will have a chance to win a Yeti Cooler provided by Vyve. One can enter the contest by scanning the QR code at the gate. The winner will be announced in the sixth inning of the second game on Saturday March 18 and will need to be present.
