Northwestern Baseball had their five game win streak snapped as the Tigers scored five runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 6-1 lead in the game and never trailed.

Dylan Collins had the conference opening start throwing six innings allowing three runs while throwing a quality start.

Jon Shaffer and Hagen Barcello led the team with two hits each. Trevor Saire picked up the team’s only RBI, scoring Colby Grace.

The Ranger offense went down in order in the first inning before Ouachita Baptist came up with the game’s first run. The Tigers had their first two base runners reach following a single and a hit batter. Following a fly out Chaney came through for the Tigers with an RBI single through the left side for the afternoon’s first run.

Colby Grace singled in the inning for Northwestern’s first hit of the afternoon but he was left on first following a strikeout and a flyout. In the third inning Tigers threatened to score as they pushed the bases loaded with two outs. However Collins escaped the jam with a groundout to shortstop, holding the game at 1-0 through three innings.

Northwestern was unable to score in the fourth inning following their second hit of the afternoon after Barcello reached on a single. Collins worked around a runner in scoring position as well after a double followed with a ground out and a strikeout to retire the side.

The sixth inning is when the Tigers struck again this time with two runs in the inning taking a 3-0 lead over the Rangers. A leadoff single and a walk had the Tigers in business. After a sacrifice bunt pushed runners to second and third, Ouachita used a second sacrifice bunt pushing across two more runs as both players scored, taking a 3-0 lead.

Each team was able to strike in the seventh inning as Northwestern had second and third nobody out looking to tie the game. Saire reached on a fielder’s choice pushing across the Rangers first run for a 3-1 game. Northwestern was unable to get another run following back to back strikeouts.

In the bottom of the inning Ouachita answered with three runs as following a leadoff single Allen hit a two run home run for a 5-1 lead. Heine hit an infield single as the throw allowed the sixth run to score for the Tigers.

Northwestern had runners on second and third after a double by Barcello. However the Tigers were able to escape the jam and hold the game at 6-1.
